An efficient composite membrane to improve the performance of PEM reversible fuel cells

The aim of this study is to develop composite Nafion/GO membranes, varying GO loading, be used in a Unitized reversible fuel cell comparing its performance with the baseline Nafion. Water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), tensile strength, and SEM (scanning electron microscope) analysis are discussed. revealed how homogeneously disposed into Nafion matrix. addition improves membrane strength while reducing elongation ratio. IEC enhance increasing content. Regarding mode, analysed using polarization curve on MEA an effective area 9 cm 2 . demonstrated higher mechanical enhanced water uptake so mode. Despite power absorbed from electrolysis when membrane, beneficial effect FC mode resulted slightly round trip efficiency. GO-Nafion was not able maintain operating time, potentially leading lower lifetime than bare.
